New cell plans for calls to Canada

November 10, 2010 - Making international calls from a cell phone can be quite costly, but a new cell phone plan may make it easier to make calls to our northern neighbors.

AT&T will now be offering new wireless rate plans for calls to Canada.

According to the company, Canada is one of the most popular international dialing destinations on its phone service. The new plans would assist those who make frequent calls to family or friends in Canada or those who frequently travel to the country on business.

Some of the features of these new plans are no international long distance charges on calls between the U.S. and Canada, 1,000 nights and weekend minutes for use between the two countries and the ability to save unused rollover minutes.

"Nation with Canada" starts at $59.99 a month and "FamilyTalk with Canada" which includes two lines of service starts at $89.99 a month.

Many people today are using their cell phones as their primary phone and forfeiting a traditional landline phone service. It is therefore important to select a plan that meets the user's calling needs.

It may be a good idea to estimate how much time will be spent talking on the phone and choosing a plan with an adequate number of minutes. Be aware: going over allotted minutes can be quite costly.
