Small Creatures

Small creatures include small animals and mammals such as hamsters, gerbils or ferrets. They are fairly easy to transport from place to place and can be moved in their cages. Adhere to the following tips to safely move your pet to its new location:
  • Small animals are just as sensitive to temperatures as you are; what is hot for you is hot for them. Keep them comfortable and don't park in direct sunlight.
  • Ensure your small pet has adequate ventilation. If you leave the vehicle unattended, keep the windows slightly open.
  • Remove water bottles from your pet's cage to prevent any spills while driving along bumpy roads. Line the bottom of the cage with padding or newspaper in the event there is an accident.
  • Check on your pet frequently along the way to feed them and give them water. Attempt to make your pet's journey as comfortable as possible and be attentive to their needs, especially during a long drive.
