The Offer
Well done, you’ve got a job offer. Obviously the first thing to do is to pat your self on the back however, remember that your job search is not yet complete. You will need to assess the offer and make a decision on whether this is the best position for you and then negotiate with the company on the terms.
When you are offered a position you may be asked to start immediately as in the next day, however this is very rare in middle and upper management positions but more common in entry-level positions. You will most likely be asked for a response within a day or two of receiving the offer or you may be given a little more time to think things through. If you went through a targeted job search, the position you are being offered is probably one you most likely want. It represents career advancement or an intelligent career move.
You may be in the enviable position of having more than one job offer allowing you to compare offers and make the best decision for you.
When you are first offered a position, be sure the tone in your voice reflects gratitude and enthusiasm. You do not want the person offering you the position to second-guess their decision as can happen if you respond with hesitance.
